Approach

My practice is strongly informed by the compassionate stance that we are all doing the best we can in an incredibly complicated world. Navigating a fast technological pace, uncertainty around safety, environmental or political worries, it’s sometimes impossible NOT to feel anxious or afraid. It is becoming harder to slow down, get calm, and feel connected to the people in our lives and our community. We are all searching for well-being and my role as a therapist is to be a connected ally and facilitator on your journey: recognizing your challenges, understanding your resilience and most importantly, championing your strengths.

We generally get stuck when our inherent strengths and resilience are overwhelmed by symptoms – when trauma and negative belief systems overshadow our capacity, get stored in our body, and cloud our thinking. In our work together, I use somatic and trauma therapies like EMDR Therapy to cut through the neurobiologic components of symptoms of mood disorders and trauma to offer relief from symptoms when talk therapy is just not enough. With EMDR Therapy, I’ve seen clients move through terrible memories, limiting and distorted beliefs to lead a bigger life, have more freedom and peace and adaptive responses to the experiences around them.

In my practice, I want to make sure you are seen, to offer you relief, to empower you, and importantly, to know what coping skills and techniques work in the real world for YOU. We work on these adjunct skills for you to take from the office into your day to day world, and coping skills can range from self-care somatic and cognitive processing techniques to meditation and positive self-talk.

I work best with clients navigating trauma, depression and anxiety and OCD, as well as aspiring or new parents. I am extensively trained in pre and postpartum mood concerns and disorders, navigating fertility and infertility, 2SLGBTQIA+, and grief and loss. Relationship concerns, including sex and sexual dysfunction, along with creative blocks for writers and artists round out my areas of expertise.
